Palouse Rowing - Summer 2017

WSU Cougar Crew is hosting its 12th summer of Palouse Rowing.  This includes programs for beginners as well as experienced rowers, which all meet three times each week.  Practices are typically held two evenings during the week, plus a Saturday morning row.  Our boathouse is located at Wawawai Landing on the Snake River.  All classes are coed and welcome adults of all ages and juniors, age 12-17 years old.

The Learn To Row class is three weeks long and allows the beginner to be introduced to all of the basics of the sport, and begin to experience the thrill and challenge of rowing in an 8 person boat all pulling together.  Masters Crew is an ongoing summer program for rowers that have various levels of previous experience.  Crew Camp is our five week program which combines members of Masters Crew with our new teammates from the Learn to Row who want to keep rowing.

Crew Camp will offer a steady progression of skills (timing, balance, technique and teamwork) and training. The summer is capped off with our annual Inland Northwest Regatta between Palouse, Coeur d'Alene and Spokane on August 19th on Fernan Lake!  For those who are small in size, consider being a coxswain!  This is a fun and exciting position on our team.

Coxswains learn to steer the boat and lead the rowers, no experience necessary.
Coach Arthur Ericsson has been the head coach of Cougar Crew for thirteen years and directs this program with their support.  New participants must take a basic swim test prior to rowing or coxing.  Please visit row.wsu.edu for information.
