Welcome the WSU Equestrian Team Website
The WSU Equestrian Team is a club sport at Washington State University. Our team competes in IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) competitions. Competing in this league enables riders to gain more show experience at a reasonable cost. At shows, riders draw a random horse, and have to show that horse with no warm-up time. This program enables riders to become more adept at riding many different types of horses. Please note: competing on the team is a privilege that is earned, not an entitlement. Ability of a rider to compete is at the discretion of the coaches.
IHSA includes both English (huntseat equitation and huntseat equitation over fences) and Western (reining and equitation). The WSU Equestrian Team is designed to give college students of all experience levels an opportunity to ride, and show horses.
The WSU Equestrian team gives riders the option to compete or not. Practices are held weekly on team horses at our team barn, a private residence in Moscow, Idaho. English practices are coached by Laura Moore and Western practices are coached by Katie Whetzel.
