FAQs

Am I eligible?

As a sports club, we can only offer training to currently enrolled students at Washington State University. Exceptions can on occasion be granted by the University, however this is on a case by case basis.

Do I need a uniform?

While we would like you to purchase one, they are in no way required to train with us, they are however required if you would like to participate in belt tests.

Do I need any prior experience?

NO! We don't require any previous experience just a desire to learn and work hard!

Ok, so where do I get a uniform?

The club has uniforms for sale, just ask Matt, Jesse or Lawrence!

Sounds like fun, when and where to you meet?

Please see our current practice schedule for training times

Sounds scary, if I join will I have to spar?

Unless special conditions apply yes, but we only ask members to spar in light, semi-contact sparring as a way to employ many of the skills you will learn. You will be in no way required to participate in full contact or tournament sparring.

So what does sparring entail anyway?

Sparring is basically a full or semi-contact fight carried out under a strict set of rules to regulate safe contact and point awards (think boxing...only with your feet, and more protective gear).
