Wakeboard/Waterski

History

Washington State University's Wakeboard and Water Ski Team was founded in 2007. Due to a lack of sufficient funding and restricted boat access the team lost recognition. In February of 2009, the Wakeboard and Water Ski Team was re-instated to Washington State University's Sport Club Federation. Dr. Randall Swanlund generously donated a boat to the club in March of 2009, and the team was on its way to success. Led by Randi Hominda and Brian Berg, the team's numbers grew from eight members to thirty plus in just two months. The team worked hard to gain a good reputation and continues to grow. Practice is held on the Snake River in Pullman, Washington despite the cold weather. Our determination continues to be the derivative in getting as much practice in as possible. We have watched team members progress their skills immensely since we started practicing together. In the Fall of 2010, we proudly took third place on the podium at collegiate regionals, and we co-hosted a collegiate water ski tournament in the Fall of 2011. Teams from around the West Coast, including California and Arizona showed up to compete. It was a huge success and made our team stronger as a unit. If it wasn't for the community who believed in our team, we would not be where we are today.
